Lower Wasatch Canal Flood Mitigation

With volunteers' assistance, Heber City staff will create emergency sandbag barriers to help protect residents affected by potential overflow from the Lower Wasatch Canal.
Residents will be provided with sandbags to barricade their driveways in the event of flooding.
*Please be aware of neighbors needing assistance should the waters rise suddenly. Staff will be predisposed if an emergency occurs*
• If your residence has curb and gutter - the sandbag wall will leverage the existing drainage path created by the gutter.
• If your residence has city irrigation canals, the sandbag wall will be created on the residence side of the ditch (utilizing the canal as the drainage path).
• Flood waters will be channeled down Center Street to the North Fields.
• The sandbags will remain in place during the spring runoff period. Afterward, Heber City staff will assist in the removal of the bags.
