Dave Booth is a Utah native, born and raised in the Utah County area. He began his career in 1989 as a police cadet with the Orem Police Department. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chicago, Illinois, he attended the Utah Police Academy and took full-time employment with the Vernal Police Department. In December of 1998, he relocated his family to Heber City and was hired by the Park City Police Department. In January of 2003, Sheriff David A. Edmunds appointed Dave to serve as his chief deputy in the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Dave has 27 years of law enforcement experience. He has served as a patrol officer, field-training officer, school resource officer and first line supervisor. Dave’s special assignments held have been: narcotics enforcement, gang enforcement, drug recognition expert (D.R.E.), bicycle patrol, S.W.A.T. and certified hostage negotiator.
Dave enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He enjoys hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping, vacationing with his family and spending time in his yard and garden.
Chief Booth looks forward to serving with insight and practical knowledge, generating consensus and ultimately, improving the lives and safety of the citizens of Heber City. He welcomes public input and ideas and looks forward to working with Heber City residences as their Chief of Police.
